Hemis National Park is a high-elevation national park in Hemis in Leh district of Ladakh, India. It is approx. 50 km from Leh ,One of the capital of Ladakh ( Leh , Kargil ). Globally famous for its snow leopards , it is believed to have the highest density of them in any protected area in the world. [ 1 ]
Hemis National Park: Inhabited by a number of snow leopards, Hemis National Park is located at an elevation of around 3000 – 6000 m and is spread across more than 4000 km 2. Apart from being a home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, this National Park is the second-largest protected area after Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve .
The Lodge is a simplified version of the National Park Service Rustic style. The location is close to the reputed campsites of U.S. Presidents Chester A. Arthur and Theodore Roosevelt. In commemoration of Roosevelt's 1903 visit, a tent camp called Camp Roosevelt was set up by the Wylie Permanent Camping Company. [3]
A unique artistic feature built by the CCC are a series of what appear to be wooden stumps poking out of Roosevelt Lake, which are actually built out of concrete. These facilities were built about 1935, and form a subset of park's surviving CCC architecture. [2] The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. [1]

Roosevelt Lake between Grand Coulee Dam and Northport, Washington, in eastern Washington state. The Grand Coulee Dam was built on the Columbia River in 1941 as part of the Columbia River Basin project.

The NPS maintains visitor centers, boat-in campsites, shoreline camping, and conducts marine patrols for compliance with United States Coast Guard marine safety rules. The Bureau of Reclamation has two management zones. One is directly behind the dam.
