The Waterford to Rosslare section includes the Barrow Bridge, the longest rail bridge in Ireland. At the time of construction, the line from Waterford diverged at Killinick, allowing for direct Waterford to Wexford trains to bypass Rosslare Strand. The N11 road is a national primary road in Ireland, running for 129 km (80 mi) along the east side of Ireland from Dublin to Wexford. The N25 continues east to Wexford and meets the end of the N11 road which comes from Dublin and all the towns and villages including Enniscorthy at the New Ross Road Roundabout positioned west of the town. The N25 skirts the edge of the town around to the south and passes west of Tagoat and Rosslare to descend to reach Rosslare Harbour.
Routes 370 and 385 (to Rosslare Strand) operate Mondays to Saturdays: the other routes operate on one or two days of the week, provide links to rural hamlets and villages such as Broadway, [2] Crossabeg, [3] Curracloe, [4] Fethard-on-Sea, [5] Kilmuckridge [4] and Tacumshane. [6]
Rosslare Harbour and Rosslare Europort are served by Bus Éireann routes 40, 132, 370, 379 and 385 and Local Link route 387. The main routes serving Rosslare Harbour are Bus Éireann Expressway route 40 which provides several services a day to/from Waterford via New Ross and the 387 to Wexford several times daily.
The station opened, as Rosslare, on 24 June 1882. Renamed Rosslare Strand in 1906. [5] Prior to track modifications in 1973 it was possible to access the Waterford line from both platforms. [6] A signal cabin was at the Wexford end of the main platform.
