Castellanos was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 10th round, with the 305th overall selection, of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft, becoming the first Belmont Abbey player to be drafted since 1972. [1] He began his career as an infielder in the rookie leagues and then moved to the outfield in 2010 with the Palm Beach Cardinals.

After a year as an assistant at Belmont Abbey College, Smith was named the head coach of the Crusaders at the age of 23. In 2009, Belmont Abbey advanced to the Division II College World Series where they finished 4th. Smith was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. [1] In 2009, Smith was named the head coach at Lander University. [2]
