Kirkland Performance Center. The Kirkland Performance Center is a 394-seat theater in downtown Kirkland, Washington.It opened in June 1998. [1] The campaign to open the center was supported by Kirkland leaders, including former city councilman Larry Springer and former mayor Bill Woods. [2]
It is known locally as the "Indiana Theater" or the "Bus-Chum". It was used as a movie theater until 1995 when it was donated to the community for use as a performing arts center. The theater is located at 114 East Kirkwood Avenue.
Today, the Culver, now renamed the Kirk Douglas Theatre, operates as a performing arts center and playhouse. An $8 million restoration project, with a $1.25 million grant from the City of Culver City, included the addition of two new stages, one with 100 seats and another with over 300 seats.
