Kabir (fl. 15th century) [1]: 14–15 was a well-known Indian devotional mystic poet and sant. His writings influenced Hinduism's Bhakti movement, and his verses are found in Sikhism's scripture Guru Granth Sahib, the Satguru Granth Sahib of Saint Garib Das, [2] and Kabir Sagar of Dharamdas.
Maluk Das was born in Kada, near Prayag in 1574. Das Themes of his songs include social religious tolerance, goodwill among men, equality and the oneness of God. [5] In this way he resembles other singers of the Bhakti movement including Kabir and Guru Nanak.
Surdas's poetry was written in a dialect of Hindi called Braj Bhasha, until then considered to be a very plebeian language, as the prevalent literary languages were either Persian or Sanskrit. His work raised the status of the Braj Bhasha from a crude language to that of a literary one.
