I am 39 years old and looking to transition to a career in aviation. I'll be retired military soon. I have been leaning towards ATP Flight School mostly because they are the name I see most often and the airline partnerships. I have read many of the posts about them and see good and bad reviews but most of them are from several years ago.
Flight Schools and Training - ATP vs American Flyers vs others - Hi, I am looking to being training next spring and have been looking at ATP Flight School mostly but also heard about American Flyers. ATP is quite upfront about their costs and timelines but seems American Flyers don't disclose these details.
Flight Schools and Training - ATP Flight School? - You can do it in the same amount of time and half the cost Part 61. I really can't wrap my head around people spending $70,000 on that nonsense.
Airline linked flight school/academy. Might be at the major partner at 25 yrs of age. That's a big attraction if you're into flying. College isn't needed up front as it can be achieved later. The difference at getting to a major airline a year earlier is worth over $500,000.
Benefits of paying for ATP-CTP. ### It is against the APC Forum Rules to advocate any labor action which is not authorized by the RLA/NMB. This applies to ANY wildcat actions, including slowdown, work-to-rules, withdrawal of enthusiasm (WOE), sickouts, etc. It is irrelevant whether the union itself has anything to do with the action.
The pros argument is that you get to the regionals alot quicker. Up until yesterday, I was sold on the idea of going to ATP flight school. I live in Hawaii and I made a special trip to PHX to tour the facility. I had a great tour, the guys there were friendly and explained everything in fine detail. They answered all my questions.
I paid a visit to ATP back in 2015. Impressed with the amount of airplanes, instructors, and the sims were very nice. It’s a pilot mill for mostly over seas pilots that are contracted to train here then give x amount of years of service to that airline. I’d say 70% if the student body there is international students.
Bottom line - ATP is a good school if you are motivated and can keep up with the program, a lot of it will be on you to study and learn the stuff on your own. Your CFI is primarily there to take you up in the airplane and to clarify anything you may be unsure of in the text. Reply. 02-27-2014, 08:17 PM. # 5.
They have no concern about you as a professional pilot. My advice, spend less, find a better flight school, take a little longer to get to CFI (a little longer being about 2 months), and you’ll be much happier and a much better pilot. ATP is an excellent place to flunk a check ride. They started with a 90 day program.
