Peter was the first Pope instituted by Jesus Himself. Peter was killed on a cross that was upside down and that is the reason for the cross being shown that way. It has nothing to do with the occult. As far as Pope John Paul II having a bent cross, I do not know why he had this except that it makes such an impression on a person.

Re: Strange patron saints site. This is found on the site--. Now take up the statue of Saint Joseph and dig a hole in your back yard. If there is no back yard, use the front yard. If there is no yard at all, dig a hole in a large potted plant. Bury the statue upside down, head downward, facing east, in the hole and cover it over.

It is correct to cross yourself or bow when the cross passes you. I've always noticed that during procession of the mass, most people in my parish turn around and watch the priest/altar servers/lectors process down the aisle and once they pass by, they do the sign of the cross.
