A BA is good if you want to go into education and keep your gpa up, but if you end up wanting to go to grad school for bio later it’d be difficult to get in without a BS unless you only ...
The BS allowed for specializations (neurobiology, behavior, genetics, etc) whereas the BA did not. Basically, the BS will helpful if you want to do anything quantitative or biochemical, because you will have a much better background in chemistry and physics. I know several PhD students who have a BA but the majority is a BS.
WoodenReply9166. • 8 mo. ago. I think BA is intended for pre-med students and BS is more for research students. If you're planning to go to medical school, BA has fewer class/credit requirements which leaves you more room to take anything not included in the Biology track but is recommended/required for applying to medical school.
BA if you want to double major/minor and only want to go to Med School, Dental School, etc. BS if you want to go into research or an MD/PhD program. This doesn’t set your future career in stone though, obviously you can get a BA and still go into research and whatnot, it just prepares you a bit because of the lab requirements and extra core ...
A B.S will require more advanced hours in biology courses as compared to a B.A, getting a B.S also requires you to take all maths up to calc 1, I believe, where as a B.A only requires you to take all maths up to stats. Getting a B.A offers the basic courses that are required by most med schools. In my opinion, if you’re planning on going the ...
I am thinking between BS degree V BA degree in pre-med track. What are the pros and cons of doing a BA in Biology vs BS in Biology with pre-med track? Few seniors have shared the information that it would significantly decrease the course stress with a BA course load and we can balance the clinical and volunteer activities. Please advise.
BS is better for the job market, BA usually is a bit easier to get and might be a better choice if med school/grad school is what you’re going for. At least for my school, the BA has less credits and less labs counted. 3. Award. Share.
There are few employment opportunities for a person with a BA in Biology. Many people major in biology to get into medical school. No a biology degree today is not worth it.. According to 2019 study by Zip recruiter Biology is the second most regretted major due to the fact that salaries are low and employment prospects are bleak.
At Stanford, they have a BS in Biological Sciences (hardcore) and a BA in Human Biology (softcore). I chose hardcore. Nov 8, 2005. #15. I was sort of indirectly told that a BA is really only good if you are doing multiple majors or multiple minors where you need room and flexibility in a schedule.
They probably care about BA vs. BS as much as they care about what you major/minor in. Which is to say, they don't care at all. 10+ Year Member. Oct 15, 2011. #11. Get the BA and minor in something else interesting. That will look much better than just a bio BS. The degree will make no difference.
