    I had tail of pancreas and spleen and gall bladder removed in May. 10 days in hospital went quite well actually, pain was never a serious problem. I was off all narcotic pain relief before leaving hospital. Tylenol was my only pain medication after that. The first week at home went well….walking daily and decent appetite.

    It is quite risky to biopsy the pancreatic duct. They do monitor the pancreatic and common bile duct with MRCP- a special MRI of the ducts. I have had that a couple of times. I also had ERCP after the MRI to treat my bile duct opening. The bile duct and pancreatic duct open together into the duodenum.

    I assume you'll be seeing a pancreas specialist on 9/21, who might not have much interest in melanoma, but if the pancreatic spot is a tumor, you'll need to know whether it is a primary pancreas tumor or a metastatic spread of melanoma to the pancreas. A biopsy of the pancreas is one way to tell.

    I had an IPMN in the tail of the pancreas. The EUS showed it to be benign. So, surgeon suggested monitoring for a year. It grew just a little bit the next year, but main duct around it was noticeably dilated, so I had successful surgery, but the resected portion of the pancreas revealed cancer. They suspected that the IPMN was to blame.

    After being diagnosed in April 2022, 9 cycles chemo CAP/TEM, surgery and removal of mass on pancreas tail, gall bladder removal, and her liver had too many tumors on it originally, to do anything, but after the chemo (pill form), she had near 70% reduction from stage 4 they did the surgery listed.

There is a 2.3 x 1.7 mass on the tail of my pancreas with no vascular activity. The doctor is going to skip the EUS/FNA, go straight to surgery to remove it, and biopsy it then. Blood tests are normal.
