Hawks Ridge is a neighbourhood in northwest Edmonton, Alberta, Canada that was established in 2010 through the adoption of the Big Lake Neighbourhood Three Neighbourhood Structure Plan (NSP), [6] which was renamed as the Hawks Ridge NSP in July 2011.
The area was originally frequented by hunters. "Hawk hill", as it was known, was a favorite location for shooting birds of prey. [3] However, because the site was within the city limits of Duluth, the Duluth Bird Club (which later became the Duluth chapter of the Audubon Society) succeeded in having an ordinance enforced there prohibiting the discharge of firearms within city limits.

The Big Lake area is located in the northwest corner of Edmonton. It is bounded by 231 Street to the west, Yellowhead Trail (Highway 16) to the south, Anthony Henday Drive (Highway 216) and Ray Gibbon Drive to the east, 137 Avenue to the northeast, and body of water Big Lake to the northwest.
