Dubai Airport Free Zone (commonly known as DAFZA, Arabic: المنطقة الحرة بمطار دبي) is an elevated rapid-transit metro station on the Green Line [1] of the Dubai Metro in Dubai, UAE. [2] [3] [4] The station opened as part of the Green Line on 9 September 2011. [5] Like most Dubai Metro stations, it is above ground level.

It was opened on August 19, 1909, being managed by the Indian Post Office Services until India’s independence in 1947. The postal services were finally established as the General Directorate of Postal Services under the Ministry of Communications in 1972, following the formation of the UAE. [1]
The first post office in the region was opened in Dubai in 1909. Dubai had one post office which was Indian in origin, under the Sind circle, and opened on 19 August 1909. Until 1947, Indian stamps were in use and are distinguished by the cancellation "Dubai Persian Gulf". Pakistani stamps were used until 31 March 1948. [1]
Sharjah and its dependencies joined the United Arab Emirates on 2 December 1971, but continued to issue its own stamps. On 31 July 1972, the UAE assumed full postal responsibilities. Nevertheless, Sharjah continued to use its own stamps until the issuance of the first UAE definitive series on 1 January 1973.
