The Borough of Stafford is a local government district with borough status in Staffordshire, England. It is named after Stafford , its largest town, which is where the council is based. The borough also includes the towns of Stone and Eccleshall , as well as numerous villages and surrounding rural areas.
The Statement of Persons Nominated, which details the candidates standing in each ward, was released by Stafford Borough Council following the close of nominations on 5 April 2023. In the 19th century the Shire Hall in Market Square became well established as the venue for judicial meetings and civic functions in the county. [2] Following the implementation of the Local Government Act 1888, which established county councils in every county, there was a need to find offices and a meeting place for Staffordshire County Council. [3]
The borough hall continued to serve as the main offices of the borough council for much of the 20th century and became the main offices of the enlarged Stafford Borough Council when it was formed in 1972, which also used the offices of the former Stafford Rural District council in Newport Road and held its meetings at the Guildhall.

The construction of Staffordshire Place in 2011 allowed for the consolidation of most of the council's offices at the one site, although the nearby County Buildings was retained by the council, with the council chamber there continuing to serve as the council's meeting place. [32]
