Northbound Texas Route 155 between Palestine and Frankston, Texas, April 2006. SH 155 begins at US 79 / SH 19 in Palestine northeastward via Frankston to SH 64 at Tyler. Just north of Frankston, a series of three causeways, one measuring a mile in length, crosses Lake Palestine and passes through the resort towns of Coffee City and Dogwood City.
The Texas State Highway system was established in 1917 to create a structured network of roads that would enhance connectivity and support economic development across the state. The initial system included 22 state highways, many of which followed pre-existing trails and trade routes.
Loop 155 was designated on September 14, 1944, from US 83 north of Crystal City following FM 65 to Uvalde St and westward along Uvalde St to US 83 in Crystal City. On July 18, 1958, the road was rerouted from Uvalde St to Lake St.
