The G&SWR ran a fleet of passenger steamships on scheduled and excursion services from its various piers and harbours. In 1872 the Greenock and Ayrshire Railway Co bought the second-hand paddle steamer PS Marquis of Bute, dating from 1868. Effective from 1 July 1884, the LSWR bought out the Solent Steam Packet Company's fleet of two paddle steamers, Solent and Mayflower, four horse and cargo boats, and other boats and property, paying £2,750. The original Solent pre-dated the arrival of the railway at Lymington, having been built in 1841.

The Maricopa Live Steamers organization (MLS) is the oldest of its kind in Arizona. MLS currently owns multiple 7 1/2" gauge train engines, around 50 riding cars, and 20 other cars. From 1996 through 1999, MLS created three miles of track which was placed outside the Sahuaro Central museum. A loop of the track was built around the museum in 1998.
