The 2014 Hockey India League (known as the Hero Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons), abbreviated as HIL 2014, is the second season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League. The tournament begun on 25 January 2014 with the final on 23 February 2014.

During the Indian hockey team tour to New Zealand in 1935, the Maoris offered a shield to the team which was hence awarded to the winners of the National Championships. This shield won by Punjab in 1947 but was never returned by Pakistan following partition.

The stadium is located opposite the international cricket stadium, Punjab Cricket Association Stadium. The stadium was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal on 27 September 2013.
