Kulcha were an Australian R&B band formed in 1993 by four vocalists Joe Fidow, Richard Matila, Eric Palu and Jay Whitmore. They have Samoan or Māori ancestry. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] They released two studio albums, Kulcha (September 1994) and Take Your Time (May 1997), the former reached No. 13 in Australia and No. 5 in New Zealand.
Kulcha is made from maida flour, water, a pinch of salt and a leavening agent (yeast, sourdough or old kulcha dough), mixed together by hand to make a soft dough.This dough is covered with a wet cloth and left to rest for an hour or so in a warm place.
It was one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. [2] A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Kumar for the final sections of the film and for the song O Daddy, O Mummy. The film was inspired by the life of a Mumbai gangster Manya Surve. [2] The title was taken from a poem of the same name called Agneepath which was penned by Harivansh Rai Bachchan , Amitabh 's father, and which is recited at the beginning of the movie and creates a thematic link that continues through the movie, both literally and metaphorically.
