I can't speak for how many combines, but he is the BIG one, LOL! Really, he's a wonderful person, but I just had to throw that in, hehe.

Truck Driver, probably the best job, get to meet folks from the area, getting away from the field, but the job can be flat out but then it can be dead slow. Best Best job, crew manager/owner, but then you have all the STRESS but the satifaction of doing a good job and keeping your customers happy is priceless. Reply Like.
I've done both custom harvest and hired custom harvesters. I can put in a lot more acres with my man power than I can harvest in a timely manor. There are times I'll bing in a custom harvester to help take of my largest acreage crop of the year and that allows me to tend the specialty crops and work on tillage and ditching for the following year.

You will probably make around $2500, plus room and board meaning that you will stay in a camper and they will provide 2 meals per day. There are some crews that pay $2800 to $3000 per month ...

I'm a college student from Canton, Ohio. Haven't had much farming experience, but it has been something I have always been interested in since I was a kid. Some things never change.....lol Anyways, I've had some interest in doing a summer with a custom harvest crew (maybe next summer), but I know that my credentials wouldn't be very impressive.
