  2. Ruger Wrangler vs. Heritage Rough Rider - Range Test

    www.rugerforum.net/threads/ruger-wrangler-vs-heritage-rough-rider-range-test...

Rough Rider is a true 4-click action, and for about the same price you get the magnum cylinder. So both have their pro's. The Heritage broke a spring once, but they sent it N/C & was easy to replace. I took both to an outdoor range for a true side-by-side comparison test. 25-yd accuracy about equal (Heritage has 6-1/2" bbl, Ruger 4-5/8" bbl).

My main gripe with the Heritage Rough Rider is non-adjustable sights. The Wrangler seems to follow that suit. I love my Single-Six in 22LR/22WMR - it is my premiere revolver. It is, in fact, my wofe's bedside shooter (in 22WMR). I got a Heritage Rough Rider for the sole purpose of dispatching Copperheads with rat-shot.

Wrangler Hammer Spring Help. I just bought my 1st gun in January so I'm new to firearms. So far I have two 9mm pistols, a S&W EZ and a Beretta 92X. Now and my wife is usually giving me some resistance about more guns in the house and buying new ones even though our youngest is 19. So I've chipped away at my wife and talked her into something ...

Wranglers are only available with a 4 5/8" barrel whereas Single-Sixes are available with 4 5/8", 5 1/2", 6 1/2" and 9 1/2" barrels in both blued and stainless with convertible 22 Mag cylinders and fixed or adjustable sights. So, it's not only a matter of cost, it's also a matter of configuration and personal preference.

Borg Warner. I like used guns better than new guns so I'd go with a used single six, but I like the looks of the Wrangler better than the Heritage for two reasons. One, I like how the Ruger's grip frame fits the main frame better, more like a full size gun. The wrangler is like a grip frame inside of a grip frame.

Model 2002, Black Cerakote. I just took my new Ruger Wrangler to the range today. As you can see, I dressed it up a bit with Rosewood grips and a holster, both from ShopRuger. I used Armscor Caliber 22 LR Grain Weight 36. Bullet Type HVHP Muzzle Velocity 1,247fps Muzzle Energy 130 ft/lbs. Velocity at 100yds 966 fps.

Ruger Wrangler vs. Heritage Rough Rider. Well the jury's in on these .22 lr SA revolvers, & Ruger is the clear winner. This is after a few years of ownership, not just 1st time out comparison. I've always thought the Ruger Wrangler is better built, but the Heritage had the advantage of convertible .22lr / .22 magnum.

Simply Rugged makes good holsters, can't go wrong there. But if you are in no particular hurry and are ok with what may be a long wait, the El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson's holster is a classic single action holster. I have one for a Single Six Bisley (6-1/2 inch) and it's well made and fits great.
