Morgan's Point Resort is located north of the center of Bell County on the eastern side of Belton Lake, a reservoir of the Leon River. It is bordered to the south by the city of Temple. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.4 km 2), all land. [4]
During the 1920s and 1930s the shoreline between Morgan's Point and Sylvan Beach came to be known as the Texas "Gold Coast", a playground for the rich. [9] As the surrounding communities of La Porte and Baytown grew, interest in the area as a summer haven diminished. Morgan's Point was finally incorporated in 1949, and a small community remained.
