Rosa 'Brigadoon', (aka JACpal), is a hybrid tea rose cultivar, developed in 1991 by rose grower, William Warriner. The new rose variety was introduced into the United States by Jackson & Perkins in 1992. [1] The rose was named an All-America Rose Selections winner in 1993. [2]
It was designed as a formal Italian garden, with symmetrical hedges. Each rose bed is planted with a single variety, and no other flowers, trees, or shrubs. The garden covers 7 of the park's 13 acres, and has about 11,000 varieties: floribunda, grandiflora, hybrid tea, climber and shrub roses.

Walter E. Lammerts (1904-1996) was an author, horticulturist, and rose breeder. He earned a BS and PhD in horticulture from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1935, he was hired by John Armstrong, owner of Armstrong Nurseries, and established the company's rose development program. He introduced 46 new rose varieties between 1940 and 1981.

'Henry Fonda' is a tall upright hybrid tea rose, 4 to 5 ft (1.2–1.5 m) in height, with a 2 to 3 ft (0.61–0.91 m) spread. It has a large, high-centered, full (26-40 petals) bloom form. Bloom size is 4.7 in (120 mm). The flowers begin as long, pointed, ovoid buds and are bright yellow in color. The rose has little or no fragrance.
