Hakeem Sekou Jeffries (/ ˌ h ɑː ˈ k iː m / hah-KEEM; born August 4, 1970 [2]) is an American politician and attorney who has served as House minority leader and Leader of the House Democratic Caucus since 2023.
It is currently represented by Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader. From 1993 to 2013, the district covered much of the west side of Manhattan, and western coastal sections of Brooklyn. However, after decennial redistricting, it was redrawn to take in much of the territory previously in the 10th district.
