Hideo "Pops" Yoshimura (吉村 秀雄, Yoshimura Hideo, October 7, 1922–March 29, 1995) was a Japanese motorcycle tuner, race team owner, and manufacturer of specialty motorcycle accessories. He is remembered for his ties to the beginnings of Superbike racing and the Yoshimura factory racing team.
The Suzuki GSX-S750 is a standard motorcycle made by Suzuki since 2015. [1] The 749 cc (45.7 cu in), 16-valve, inline-four, sports-bike-derived engine was modified and re-tuned for more usable torque at lower RPM for commuting and cruising at slower speeds.
The wide plastic panels under the seat were added to hide an unsightly exhaust hanger. The resulting GSX-R750 was introduced in 1985 but withheld from the United States due to tariff issues which would have imposed a 39.4 percent tax on each bike because it was over 700 CC.
The model also got slingshot carburetors, polished stainless steel silencers, curved radiator, Tokico 4-cylinder front brake calipers and a rear hugger mudguard. The new 4 into 2 exhaust was designed to create more midrange torque but this had only a marginal effect on the engines power. Yoshimura also produced the cyclone system 4 into 1.
The exhaust system was also changed, gone were the dual silencers and replaced with one stainless steel silencer on the right side. The transmission output shaft was lengthened to accommodate a wider wheel. A new curved oil-cooler design and oil lines (attached to the oil pan similar to the original 85-87 engines) were installed.
An exhaust tuning valve had been mounted inside the exhaust pipe. Using a servo the system dynamically adjusted the exhaust backpressure, according to engine speed, throttle position, and gear selection for increased torque, lower emissions, and decreased noise—the (stock) exhaust noise of the GSX-R1000 is notably lower than that of the GSX-R600.
