Originally called silent (inaudible) discharge and also known as ozone production discharge [ 1 ] or partial discharge , [ 2 ] it was first reported by Ernst Werner von Siemens in 1857.
The DBD was the plasma source used in the mid-1990s in the early groundbreaking work on the biomedical applications of cold plasma. [5] A conventional DBD device comprises two planar electrodes with at least one of them covered with a dielectric material and the electrodes are separated by a small gap which is called the discharge gap.
