My favorite bullets for a 223 are the 73-77 grainers, but you need a 1:8 or 1:7 twist for that. For a 1:9 I would try a 50, 53, and 55 grain V-max. The 53 is my favorite. Good powders to try in that weight class would be Benchmark, 2015, H335, CFE223, and Varget. L.
Toprudder, my Savage model 10 in 7.62x39 also has a .308 barrel and it shoots the .310 steel-cased stuff like a champ. Sub-MOA with steel-case .310 Hornady 123-grain SST's in fact. I figured I'd be loading .308 bullets for it until I shot some .310's. Then I quicky realized it wasn't broke, so I'm not gonna fix it.
Northeast PA, USA. May 27, 2009. #8. The powders that are considered "Magnum Powders" are: AA#9, Alliant 2400, W296/H110, both IMR & H4227, Ramshot Enforcer and VV N350. You can add Hodgdon Lil'Gun for heavier bullet in the .357 Magnum. (158gr and heavier) All will do a very good job so pick the one that's made by the company you like best ...

Nov 3, 2012. #1. Recently started working at a store selling reloading equipment and ammunition. I get asked about once week what 223 bullet I would reccommend for deer hunting. Up until now I have always told the customer that I wouldn't shoot a deer with anything smaller than a 6mm bullet (I huntbmostly with 30.06 or 270) .
I would shoot for 2,500 fps. That is my mild load using the 125gr BT out of my 30-06. Should be no problems, of the powders listed, I would go with Varget. It works well in so many 308 loads and will give better fill than the other 2 powders. H4895 is an excellent choice as well, being only slightly faster burning.
This is why I sold off my .358 Norma Magnum, and my 2 .356's and why I now only shoot .260 Remington's, .223's, 28 gauges, etc. Handguns are not an issue as the recoil is not jarring to the shoulder, neck, head, etc. And although bungee jumping has never appealed to me, it is now permanently out-of-the-question.
Low and left almost always indicate a pre-ignition push/flinch for a right handed pistol shooter. And it's nearly always combined with (indeed, caused by) a blink just before the shot goes off. It's possible that you've learned to time your blink/flinch with other guns and haven't yet with the Glocks, perhaps because of where the trigger breaks ...
It is a powerful and accurate load. Unique works great in the 44 Magnum case. There is no need to be always shooting 1300 fps loads. Just follow the load data in reputable reloading information sources. I reload for a Beretta 96, S&W M&P40 and a 40 S&W M1911 and all function well with my reloads.
