One of the peace walks passed through western Massachusetts, and the area was identified as a potential site for a peace pagoda. [1] The pagoda was completed in 1986, featuring a 100-foot-high dome and several statues of the Buddha, carved by Sri Lankan artisans. The site also contains a reflecting pool and rock garden. [2]

The height of the pagoda is 28.5 metres (94 ft) and diameter is 23 metres (75 ft).The Pagoda is situated on the slopes of the Jalapahar hills, in the town of Darjeeling.
The site was dedicated in 1990 and the pagoda was officially opened at an international ceremony in 1998. [2] In 2002 the Sangharama Monastery was built in the same grounds and the Rewata Dhamma teaching hall in 2007. There is also a meditation garden to one side, overlooking the slope of the dam. The base and walls of the pagoda are octagonal.
