DirectLOGIC is a range of programmable logic controllers produced by Koyo. They are programmed using DirectSOFT via: RS-232; USB port with USB-to-Serial adapter; 10BASE-T or 10/100 Ethernet network card
Koyo Electronics (Kōyō Denki) and its subsidiary Koyo Electronics Industry (Kōyō Denshi Kōgyō), often collectively referred to as just Koyo, are Japanese electronics companies based in Kodaira, Tokyo [2] that manufactured radios from 1955 until 1973, and now its subsidiary manufactures industrial electronics devices and factory automation control systems.
Koyo DirectNET protocol is used by DirectLOGIC PLCs from Automation Direct and is used in APS vacuum controls since 1999. It is a master/slave protocol making use of RS-232 or RS-422 physical layers with a baud rate from 300 to 38,400. It is designed to drive a maximum of 90 PLCs on a serial line.
A programmable logic controller (PLC) or programmable controller is an industrial computer that has been ruggedized and adapted for the control of manufacturing processes, such as assembly lines, machines, robotic devices, or any activity that requires high reliability, ease of programming, and process fault diagnosis.

Ladder logic is used to develop software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in industrial control applications. The name is based on the observation that programs in this language resemble ladders , with two vertical rails and a series of horizontal rungs between them.
IEC 61131-3 is the third part (of 10) of the international standard IEC 61131 for programmable logic controllers. It was first published in December 1993 [1] by the IEC; the current (third) edition was published in February 2013.
