Almaden Expressway is the primary arterial road that intersects through Almaden Valley, linking it to the rest of Santa Clara Valley with connections to the West Valley Freeway (CA 85) and the Guadalupe Freeway (CA 87) Blossom Hill Road, an important artery for South San Jose and Los Gatos also passes through Almaden.
In the late 1990s the portion of the expressway from Almaden Expressway to SR 87 was transferred from Santa Clara County to the city of San Jose. San Jose then converted it into an auto row and renamed it Capitol Expressway Auto Mall. Capitol Expressway is signed as G21 along its length.
