Ye Ethiopia Lijoch TV (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ ልጆች ቲቪ) is an Ethiopian children's channel headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Owned by Ethiopia Lijoch P.L.C., it was launched in April 2019. The channel broadcasts programming mainly in Amharic with some programming in English.
Programs are dubbed in the Amharic language, and Kana TV developed locally produced shows such as Hiwote, Weraj Ale, Kana News and Sheqela. In addition, Kana TV began connecting to international Ethiopian audiences overseas through YouTube, gaining popular attraction to series such as Üç Kız Kardeş (Yewef Gojo) on YouTube.
Television in Ethiopia was introduced in 1962 with the government owned ETV. Color television started in 1979 on an experiment basis with regular transmissions starting in 1984 to commemorate the founding of Workers' Party of Ethiopia (WPE). [ 1 ]
