After almost three years of construction, Universal Studios Japan opened on March 31, 2001, in the Konohana-ku district of Osaka, Japan, and was the first Universal Studios theme park to open outside of the U.S. It was also the first Universal theme park to operate within the Asian region.

Konohana-ku (此花区) is one of 24 wards of Osaka city, Japan. It stands at the mouth of the Yodo River. It is home to the popular western-style theme park of Universal Studios Japan. It will be the site of Expo 2025, a World's Fair to be held in 2025. [1]
In March 2009, Universal Studios Japan announced that they would be closing E.T. Adventure on May 10, 2009. [1] Following the ride's closure in May, the ride system was removed with Universal Studios Japan temporarily reopening the attraction as a walkthrough attraction for five days from July 18, 2009.
The attraction then opened alongside Universal Studios Japan's Super Nintendo World on March 18, 2021. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] This ride, alongside the rest of Universal Studios Japan, was temporarily closed on April 25, 2021 amid rising concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic ; [ 7 ] the park reopened in June of the same year, maintaining enhanced health ...
