In 1995, Cibo Matto released a self titled EP on El Diablo Records. The EP caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records, which signed Cibo Matto later in the year. Through Warner Bros., the duo released its first major album, Viva! La Woman. [1] Cibo Matto is an Italian phrase that translates to "Crazy Food" and many of the tracks from Viva!

PopMatters gave the album a mostly positive review, writing: "As a monument and tribute to one of the most unique musical duos in the past decade, it may not be the most complete document ever assembled, but it doesn’t have to be: Cibo Matto doesn’t need to win your heart over in 19 songs -- they can do it in just one."
