The village is located at the junction of U.S. highways 3 and 302, two major routes through the White Mountain notches. The Ammonoosuc River flows through the center of the village. Twin Mountain has a separate ZIP Code (03595) from the rest of the town of Carroll. Twin Mountain Airport lies 1 mile (1.6 km) southwest of the Route 3 / 302 junction.
Eventually the river enters the town of Carroll near the community of Twin Mountain, passes under U.S. Route 3, and ends at the Ammonoosuc River. The Little River is a public water supply for the village of Twin Mountain. A portion of the river is paralleled by (and crossed three times by) the North Twin Trail, a hiking trail.
The west side of North Twin drains to the North Branch of the Gale River, another tributary of the Ammonoosuc River. The summit of North Twin is reached by the North Twin Trail, which ascends from the village of Twin Mountain via the Little River valley. The North Twin Trail continues south along the crest of the Twin Range to South Twin.
