Primary cooling is done by a shrouded cooling fan mounted horizontally on top of the engine. The fans were revised throughout the production run, with early fans made of steel and later ones of magnesium to reduce inertia. The fan is driven by a long V-belt from the back of the engine with an adjustable idler pulley.
In aeronautics, a ducted fan is a thrust-generating mechanical fan or propeller mounted within a cylindrical duct or shroud. Other terms include ducted propeller or shrouded propeller . [ 1 ] When used in vertical takeoff and landing ( VTOL ) applications it is also known as a shrouded rotor .
The shroud-less fan has wide-chord, low aspect ratio hollow titanium fan blades that are linear-friction welded to the disks to form single-piece integrally-bladed rotors (IBRs), or blisks. The fan and compressor stators and thrust-vectoring nozzle use a burn-resistant titanium alloy called Alloy C, with the first row of vanes variable in order ...
Schematic diagram illustrating a 2-spool, high-bypass turbofan engine with an unmixed exhaust. The low-pressure spool is coloured green and the high-pressure one purple. Again, the fan (and booster stages) are driven by the low-pressure turbine, but more stages are required. A mixed exhaust is often employed.
The bypass ratio (BPR) of a turbofan engine is the ratio between the mass flow rate of the bypass stream to the mass flow rate entering the core. [1] A 10:1 bypass ratio, for example, means that 10 kg of air passes through the bypass duct for every 1 kg of air passing through the core.

In 1983 the B23 was introduced to the United States market as a B23F engine. Also introduced in 1983, the "intercooler boost system" (IBS) was introduced for the B21FT motors. The IBS kit consisted of an intercooler, appropriate ducting, a new fan shroud, new oil cooler lines and mounting brackets, and optionally an automatic transmission kit ...
Four custom-made aluminium rims and custom backlit rear number plate installed. Notes: Modified hot rod fitted with a 5.7-litre Edelbrock Chevrolet V8 that generates 300 bhp. Micky Bray built the famous "Pinball Wizard" Ford Popular from which the paint scheme idea was taken, and which was owned at one time by Mike's dad, Roger.
