HowTheLightGetsIn Festival is a philosophy and music festival, hosted by the Institute of Art and Ideas.It aims "to get philosophy out of the academy and into people's lives" [1] by bringing together philosophers, writers, academics, comedians and musicians for a festival of debate, talks, music, workshops, and late night parties.
Debate Team is an American band from Los Angeles, California, consisting of vocalist Ryan McNeill, drummer Dan Konopka of OK Go, guitarist Drew Brown of OneRepublic, bassist Bob Morris of the Hush Sound and keyboardist Adam James. It began to organize formal debate tournaments with peer institutions, as well as on-campus debates for student groups, during the early twentieth century. By the 1950s, the debate program had become part of the Brown University English Department. Competing on the National Debate Tournament circuit, the debate team was fairly successful.
In 2005, Louisville started a "Take it to the Streets" initiative in which they offered to debate the topic normally if the judge was replaced with a layperson.
