Howard Tabor (March 13, 1893 – April 5, 1968) was an American politician. Howard Tabor was born on March 13, 1893, to parents Ella and George Tabor . After graduating from Baldwin High School, Tabor enrolled at Cedar Rapids Business College, then returned to the family farm near Baldwin .
George Tabor's father Andrew Jackson Tabor (1831–1901) moved from Jackson County, Indiana, to settle Monmouth Township, Jackson County, Iowa, with his brother.Andrew Tabor married Nancy L. Cooley in 1854, and their son George was born on December 6, 1862.
The historic district, now known as the Christian Herschler Winery, is located on the edge of town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. [ 1 ] At the time of its nomination it included three contributing buildings : the house (1865), barn (1865) and a shed/summer kitchen. [ 2 ]

Baldwin was originally called Fremont. The present name is for Edward Baldwin, the original owner of the town site. [4]In 1910, Baldwin contained several general stores, a drug store, harness shop, meat market, hotel, saloon, restaurant, livery barn, and a barber shop.
