Telangana was formed on 2 Jun 2014, after the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. It comprised 10 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The unified Legislative Assembly was also apportioned and 119 constituencies were assigned to the Legislative Assembly of the new state.
The districts in Telangana were organized in 2016 and later in 2019, increasing from 10 to 33. [4] [5] As the census reports are based on the old districts in 2011, the cities and towns are categorized under both the present and erstwhile district.
