The Lowell School is an historic school building located at 25 Lowell Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1883, it is the only surviving wood-frame school building in the city. It is a two-story structure with a hip roof, clapboard siding, and a brick foundation.

The Old Cambridge Historic District is a historic district encompassing a residential neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts that dates to colonial times. It is located just west of Harvard Square, and includes all of the properties on Brattle Street west of Mason Street to Fresh Pond Parkway, all of the properties on Mason Street and Elmwood Avenue, and nearby properties on Craigie Street.
In 2005, Dr. Thomas D. Fowler-Finn, Superintendent of the Cambridge Public Schools, set in motion the transition of the Tobin into a Montessori School. The first Tobin Montessori Children's House School started in 2008. At this time the school began to accept three, four and five-year-old students into the new Children's House classrooms.
