Pre-medical (often referred to as pre-med) is an educational track that undergraduate students mostly in the United States pursue prior to becoming medical students. It involves activities that prepare a student for medical school , such as pre-med coursework, volunteer activities, clinical experience, research, and the application process.
Pre-Pharmacy or Pre-Pharm is the term used for a 2-year undergraduate course that Pharmacy students must first complete before moving onward to a 4- or 3-year PharmD program within the United States. The program is offered in a few different ways across the country.
A pre-medical program was established at the Extension School in 1980. [57] Students who successfully complete the program are eligible for sponsorship and a committee letter of support in their applications to medical school. [58] [59]
