Saia began his coaching career as an assistant under Lou Campanelli at California in the 1988–89 season then was an assistant at Indiana State in the 1989–90 season and Fresno State from 1990 to 1994. [4] From 1994 to 1996, Saia was head coach at Columbia College, a junior college in Sonora, California.
Taylor began his career in Chicago working for the Swiss electronics company Saia-Burgess. At the time, he was only one of the few employees of the company working in North America. By around 2000, Taylor was a general manager at the company overseeing a few thousand U.S. employees.
