An election to all 40 seats on Tipperary County Council was held on 7 June 2024 as part of the 2024 Irish local elections. [1] County Tipperary is divided into 8 local electoral areas (LEAs) to elect councillors for a five-year term of office on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).
Michael Murphy is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary South constituency since the 2024 general election. [ 1 ] He was elected to South Tipperary County Council in 2009, was a member of Tipperary County Council from 2014 to 2024.
[citation needed] Murphy first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Tipperary minor team that won the All-Ireland Minor Championship in 1976. [1] He progressed onto the Tipperary under-21 team and won back-to-back All-Ireland Under-21 Championship titles from three consecutive finals appearances between 1978 and 1980. [2]
Earlier in 1971 Murphy was appointed to the Central Council refereeing panel and, following a competent display in the league decider, took charge of the Munster decider between Tipperary and Limerick. Murphy's umpires for the final were J. Duggan, M. J. 'Inky' Flaherty (both Galway), E. Devlin

It is also the largest landlocked county in Ireland. Tipperary is bounded (clockwise) by counties Offaly, Laois, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Clare and Galway.
Martin Kennedy (20 November 1898 – 17 July 1983) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Toomevara and with the Tipperary senior inter-county team from 1922 until 1936. Kennedy is regarded as one of Tipperary's greatest-ever players.
