Richard Gilsdorf (24 January 1930 – 4 May 2005) was a Catholic priest who played a role in doctrinal battles that followed the Second Vatican Council.He opposed renowned Scripture scholar Raymond E. Brown and wrote a number of articles for conservative Catholic publications on the issues of the day.
The church dates from the 11th century with additions in every century to the 16th. There was restoration work in 1841. By 1843 the size of Everton's population meant that yet again Holy Trinity needed extending. This was achieved by increasing the chancel eastward. In addition an annex on the southern side of the chancel was added.

The Church of the Holy Trinity is the original parish church of the Saxon settlement of Wolverton [citation needed] and overlooks the valley of the Ouse river, near the site of the Norman motte-and-bailey castle. [2] In the early 19th century the old medieval building was replaced by a new church, begun in 1809 and completed in 1815. [2]

A grant of £120 was provided by the Incorporated Church Building Society. The church provided 268 seats. [5] It was consecrated by John Sumner, Bishop of Chester, on 7 January 1840. [4] Holy Trinity became a separate parish church in 1869. [2] A chancel was added in 1875–76 and a baptistry in 1911. [6]
