Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of McLean County, Illinois, United States.The 2020 census showed the city had a population of 78,680, [5] making it the 13th-most populous city in Illinois and the fifth-most populous outside the Chicago metropolitan area. [6]

Downtown Bloomington and the McLean County Courthouse & Square are seen in this 1914 image. The McLean County Courthouse housed the McLean County Circuit Court from 1903 to 1976. The original construction was completed in 1868 at a cost of $461,640. [2] On June 19, 1900, a fire destroyed many of the buildings in the square and the courthouse.
The housing project was modeled after the Dunbar Apartments in Harlem, New York City, built by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in 1926. [4] In 1981, the Rosenwald Apartment Building received National Register of Historic Places designation. [3] The last residents moved out in 2000, after mismanagement and lack of upkeep made the site uninhabitable.
In 1997, the Eastview Christian Church preschool was taken over and renamed "Cornerstone Christian Academy of McLean County, Inc.” by founders Becky Shamess and April Kinzinger. In 1998, Cornerstone moved to Grace United Methodist Church in Bloomington, where it accepted students from preschool through 4th grade.
