Yhwach (ユーハバッハ, Yūhabahha), the primary antagonist of the post-timeskip half and by far the most powerful enemy of the entire series, is the sovereign of the Wandenreich and the progenitor of all Quincies. Yhwach is also the son of the Soul King, the being whose existence is vital to the Soul Society.
Though Zangetsu fades, Ichigo still accepts him as "Zangetsu" alongside his hollow. Once Nimaiya finishes forging the true Zanpakutō, Ichigo finds it had become a new split true Zangetsu. As the Soul Society prepare for war, the Sternritter are assembled before Yhwach as he announces Uryū will be his successor.

The majority of named hollows appearing in Bleach are monsters of the week used during Bleach's first arc. After Ichigo's return from Soul Society, the hollow-based characters known as arrancar are introduced, with the basic hollows having lesser roles and rarely used as villains except in the anime side-story episodes.
