Opened in the mid–1970s, the Meadowlands Racetrack held its first harness race on September 1, 1976 while thoroughbred racing commenced on September 6, 1977.
The Governor's Cup is an American harness racing event run annually for two-year-old Standardbred pacers at a distance of one mile.
