Suffield is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region , and located in the Connecticut River Valley . As of the 2020 census , the population was 15,752. [ 2 ]
Spencer was born in Suffield, Connecticut, on November 4, 1871, to Alfred and Caroline Frances (Reid) Spencer. He attended Suffield Academy and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1893. [3] He worked in Windsor Locks for the J. R. Montgomery Company, a textile manufacturing firm, from 1893 to 1900. [4]
Suffield Township was named after Suffield, Connecticut, the hometown of many its first settlers. [4] It is the only Suffield Township statewide. [5] A post office called Suffield was established in 1836, and remained in operation until 1966.
Suffield Depot is named for the end of a spur railroad line leading to Suffield village from the town of Windsor Locks to the south. The center of the village is located on a ridge east of the railroad line, with a town green occupying the area around the intersection of North and South Main Street (Connecticut Route 75) with Mountain Road (Connecticut Route 168) and Bridge Street.
