The Island Historic District is a mixed commercial and residential historic district located in Plainwell, Michigan.It is roughly bounded by Bannister Street to the north, Hill Street to the south, the Kalamazoo River to the east, and Park Street to the west, as well as including properties along Main Street south of the mill race and along Bridge Street west to the mill race.
The mill was eventually decommissioned in 2000, and in 2006 sold to the city of Plainwell. Preliminary environmental cleanup took place in 2007. [2] In 2010, the City of Plainwell signed a developer's agreement with Conestoga Rovers and Associates to clean up and redevelop the property. Some structures were demolished, and others redeveloped.
The J. F. Eesley Milling Co. Flour Mill–Elevator (later the Plainwell Elevator Company) was built as a flour mill located at 717 East Bridge Street in Plainwell, Michigan. The building has been renovated and houses a brewpub. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. [1]

Plainwell is a city in Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,788 at the 2020 census. [4] Plainwell is located on M-89 just east of its junction with US 131. The city of Otsego is about three miles (4.8 km) to the west.
The West Bridge Street Historic District is a residential historic district containing structures located at 320, 414–550 and 321–563 West Bridge Street in Plainwell, Michigan, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
An 8-mile (13 km) paved hike-bike trail, 19 miles (31 km) of horse trails and 7 miles (11 km) of hiking-only trails are available as well as connecting trails to other nearby parks. The only camping is in organized group camping or canoe-in sites. The park receives 2.5 million visitors a year. Kensington Metropark opened in 1947.
