Rancho Mirage is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The city is a low-density desert community with resorts, golf courses, and country clubs within the Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert. [5] [6] Nestled along the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains in the south, it is located several minutes east of Palm Springs.
It is over this course, now known as the Dinah Shore Tournament Course, that the Chevron Championship, one of the five major championships in women's professional golf, was played. It debuted in April 1972 as the "Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner's Circle," the richest event on the LPGA Tour , and became a major in 1983 through 2022.
Cypress Point Club was ranked #2 on Golf Magazine's 2011 List of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World [10] and #5 on Golf Digest's 2011–12 list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses.
