Great Britain and Northern Ireland has participated in all the World Athletics Championships since the events beginning in 1983 as the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. The team also took part in the two minor championship events under the same name for non-Olympic disciplines in 1977 and 1980, without winning a medal.
