Batch dyeing (exhaust dyeing) is a method of dyeing a textile material. The method involves the gradual transfer of dye from a dye bath to the textile material in the same piece of equipment. [1] The various methods of batch dyeing result from the type of machine used in the dyeing process.
After the roll is padded, it is immediately wound and wrapped. It is then batched or rotated continuously for 6–24 hours. This process is known as "pad-batch." The material is then washed to remove the unfixed dye, which is possible to do with a continuous washing line or a batch dyeing machine. [2]
Winch machine is a high liquor dyeing machine operating at 1:20 (MLR) and a maximum temperature of 98 degrees Celsius. In a winch dyeing, the fabric remains in movement while the dye liquor stays stationary similar to a jigger but with lesser stress on the materials. Hence, suitable for delicate textures and fabric types such as knitted fabrics.

Processing machines are usually fed with premixed granules of the host polymer and the masterbatch, where the final mixing takes place in the screw and extrusion parts of the processor. Granule processing is sometimes prone to causing adverse effects, such as the separation of the masterbatch and the base material in the hopper.

The decision regarding color can be made after the fabric has been manufactured. Thus, it is suitable for quick response orders. Dye penetration may not be good in thicker fabrics, so yarn dyeing is sometimes used to dye thick fabrics in solid colors. Various types of dyeing machines are used for piece dyeing.
