This template is to help users write non-free use rationales for non-free album covers and other music cover art as required by WP:NFC and WP:NFURG. Include this in the File page before the {{ Non-free album cover }} template, once for each time you insert the album cover art image into an article.
A template alone does not make cover art fair to use. It merely helps you state why you think it is appropriate. This template is optimized for album cover art used in the article about the album. It may or may not work in other contexts. For example, this non-free use rationale may not be appropriate for images of videos.
The actual medium of publication or presentation is not a factor; a video feature released only on video tape, disc or the Internet is considered a "film" for these purposes, and likewise an e-book is a book, a webcomic is a comic strip, a music album available only from the artist on a limited-edition USB drive is a real album, a TV series ...
Note that this template should be used for covers from all types of audio recording releases, not just albums, despite the name of the template. Usage The optional parameter |image has rationale=yes will stop the message box in the lower part of the template from being displayed.

As a general rule of thumb, the lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs and be carefully sourced as appropriate. Facts to consider including along with the album title are: the name of the artist(s), the genre of the album if discussed in the article, the release date and record label—wikilink when possible.
