In photography, manual focus override, also known as full-time manual focus, allows manual intervention in the autofocus acquisition process simply by turning the focus ring on a photographic lens. There are a number of technologies used to implement this feature.
One technique to make this easier to control is called back button focus: separating focus from the shutter control button by reassigning the AF-on function to a button on the back of the camera body. [8] Some models of a camera may have a dedicated AF-ON button, and menu options to disable the focus via shutter button half-press.
The focus itself may be adjusted in a variety of ways. Larger view cameras and the like slide the lens closer or further from the film plane on rails; on smaller cameras, a focus ring on the lens is often rotated to move the lens elements by means of a helical screw. Other systems include levers on the lens or on the camera body.
A method variously referred to as trap focus, focus trap, or catch-in-focus uses autofocus to take a shot when a subject moves into the focal plane (at the relevant focal point); this can be used to get a focused shot of a rapidly moving object, particularly in sports or wildlife photography, or alternatively to set a "trap" so that a shot can ...
Hasselblad 503CW with Ixpress V96C digital back, an example of a professional digital camera system. A digital camera, also called a digicam, [1] is a camera that captures photographs in digital memory. Most cameras produced today are digital, [2] largely replacing those that capture images on photographic film or film stock.
The camera uses a 2048 x 1536 pixel sensor and has a fixed 7x optical zoom lens. [4] In designing the Dimage 5 and 7 Minolta have aimed to create SLR-type handling characteristics. The electronic viewfinder, manual zoom, and manual focus ring make the whole user experience more akin to an SLR.
Focus mode switch: This switch is found on most EF lenses that have an autofocus feature. It is used for setting the lens to either autofocus mode, or manual focus. When set to autofocus mode (AF), the lens will autofocus when directed to by the camera. When set to manual focus (MF), the lens is focused using the Focusing ring. Some lenses ...
Z-mount cameras support metering as well as in-body image stabilization (IBIS) with manual focus lenses. The 55 mm throat diameter of the Nikon Z-mount makes it the largest full-frame lens mount. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] It is much larger than the F-mount and the E-mount used by Sony mirrorless cameras [ 8 ] but only slightly larger than the 54 mm of both ...
